A properly working vehicle is important for your safety, the safety of your passengers, and the safety of those around you when you are driving. If you are experiencing poor braking performance, then this is a sign that your brake pads need to be repaired.
Depending on how your driving habits and what your owner’s manual says, you should replace your brake pads once every 25,000 to 70,000 miles. Several warning signs will indicate your brake pads are wearing down and need to be repaired or replaced:
• Low resistance – You have a problem when you step on the brake pedal, and you feel little or no resistance.
• Squealing or grinding sounds – Worn out brake pads make a squealing sound, and brake pads that are worn-down make a grinding sound.
• Vibrations while braking – A vibrating brake pedal is a sign of worn-out rotors or brake pads.
