What's New for the 2025 Acura MDX?
A styling update to the 2025 Acura MDX has been made. The exterior now offers slight tweaks to the bumper, wheels, and grille. The interior receives more substantial improvements, such as a reworked center console with a 12.3-inch display.
Additionally, there are also no cosmetic changes to the model's various trims. All Acura MDX models now come with a rear seatbelt reminder system, and the MDX's driver-assistance hardware has been upgraded. New laminated rear window glass reduces cabin noise even further. Also, a pair of extra speakers are available in the base model.
The optional ELS Studio sound system has been replaced by a Bang & Olufsen setup with 19 speakers. The high-end Type S receives a Bang & Olufsen stereo with an impressive 31 speakers. And new 16-way adjustable front seats with a more robust massaging function are optional.
Exterior/ Interior Design
Though the Acura MDX is a luxury SUV, the exterior betrays this feeling with a design that resembles most crossovers on the road. That said, when stepping into the cabin, drivers will find a more unique and luxurious design littered with high-end amenities.
With a premium look and feel, the cabin of the MDX comes appropriately appointed. There's stitched leather on the dashboard and an open-pore wood combined with metal and black accents. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, and they have 16-way power adjustability and massage function.
There are also creature comforts like dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. Also, while the first and second rows offer plenty of space, the third row is still best suited for kids.
Performance
Two powertrains are offered for the 2025 Acura MDX. Most models use a 290-hp 3.5-liter V6 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the sporty Type S has a powerful 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with all-wheel drive. According to the EPA, MDX models with the 3.5-liter V6 have an estimated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The more powerful 3.0-liter, however, dips in efficiency with an estimated 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.
Technology
To compliment the rest of the Acura MDX's luxurious cabin, Acura littered the interior with plenty of technology. There's a 12.3-inch digital gauge and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, in-dash navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A wireless smartphone charging pad and an 11-speaker stereo are also standard. In higher trims, the stereo is to a 19-speaker setup or to an impressive 31 speakers in the Type S model.
Safety Features
Equipped in all Acura MDX models is an abundance of driver-assistance technology. Features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and a lane-change assist feature all come standard.
